by Linda Hamilton

Having been found in the year 1847, Napa, California is a place that has a rich history, which is to be expected from a place that is neighbor to some of the most prominent vineyards in the world and the birth place of the world famous leather. This city which is home to about 72, 585 people, has been in transition for the last three to four decades to be able to compete with the other industrialized cities in the country. From prune processing and tanneries, a once old city has now transformed into a city where people are mostly employed in white collar jobs and the economy is now also basing on the profits from tourism.

Many has changed over the years, however, its residents together with the government preserved the best of Napa. Being the County Seat of one of the Great Wine Capitals in the world, Napa had lived up to its standards it has made for itself before and do its priority: to produce quality products and services. One of these high quality products is the wine. Although most of the wineries are situated outside Napa, one still has the opportunity to taste these wines through the tasting rooms and wine bars in the city. One may choose from about 20 wine bars in the city. Rocca Family Vineyards, Backroom Wines and Ceja Winery Tasting Room are only some of the choices.

There are also amazing shopping areas in Napa. Apart from the usual shops that sell clothes and shoes, there are also a lot of specialty shops that sell dolls and retro fashion. There are also various selections for wine and wine related gifts. In terms of dining areas, Napa is packed with fine dining areas that are popular for serving the finest dishes known all over the country. Napa is also filled with open spaces and parks that the residents and visitors can use whichever way they want as long as the rules were kept in check. Visitors may also be interested in the historical sites that are also part of the attractions in this city. Some of these sites include the Holden Mansion, Sawyer tannery, Patchett Street, Napa Valley Opera House, First Presbyterian Church and the Napa State Hospital.

With the city’s recreation sites, high quality dining areas, specialty shops and fine wineries, Napa is becoming a city that is at par with the best cities not only in the State of California but even in the country.
